Problem Statement
While YouTube Music has strong customization and a vast library, it lags behind Spotify and Pandora in adoption and recognition. Despite Google’s backing and unique YouTube integration, low visibility limits its growth and engagement.
Goals
As music streaming platforms grow more alike, the opportunity lies in offering what competitors don’t do. To help YouTube Music stand out, we propose adding a karaoke feature—a community-driven tool that sparks joy, boosts confidence, and fosters connection, creating a space for self-expression and deeper engagement.

The competitive analysis evaluated music platforms’ strengths and weaknesses to identify gaps YouTube Music could fill. Focusing on content organization, karaoke features, and UI design, it informed design decisions to enhance the app’s uniqueness and usability.
User Interview
User research showed many participants didn’t know YouTube Music existed, yet introverted users were excited by the idea of an accessible karaoke feature. Key pain points included intrusive ads and paywalls, while users expressed interest in multilingual playlists and personalized, social karaoke experiences.

The user flow mapped how users navigate the karaoke feature, guiding wireframe design to ensure discovery, engagement, and task completion felt intuitive. Insights from interviews, paired with goals of simplicity, accessibility, and fun, kept the journey seamless and user-focused.
Featured Set
After defining the core karaoke features, we identified key sub components for each screen to shape the app’s visual structure. Breaking screens into task-driven elements ensured clarity, consistency, and an intuitive experience aligned with the app’s new interactive direction.
Design
Sketches
Key screens have been sketched to begin visualizing and mapping out the user experience on the platform. These initial designs include essential pages such as the landing/home page, menu, and booking process. Each screen plays a vital role in guiding users through a smooth and engaging journey from discovery to final booking.
Hi-Fidelity Design
After creating the high-fidelity prototype, usability testing let real users interact with it to evaluate navigation, booking flow, and the effectiveness of the visual layout.
User Testing
After a productive round of user testing, participant feedback had a significant impact on the design changes. The data collected informed a stronger final iteration, resulting in a refined car service application that effectively addressed user needs and provided practical solutions

The final revision improved usability and visual appeal with optimized icon placement, cohesive color schemes, restructured layouts, and subtle animations to guide interaction and enhance the karaoke experience all the way through onboarding to starting your karaoke moment.
